Ed "Umoja" Herman

Ed Herman, also known as "Brother Umoja" is the President and Founder of Umoja Photography, Umoja Communications Company Inc., the Piton International Film Festival, and Sisters in Harmony (501c3).  As an accomplished photographer and graphic designer, his images have appeared in a variety of publications including British Airways High Life Magazine, Action Martial Arts Magazine, and the Amsterdam News. 


Brother Umoja has photographed numerous models, politicians, celebrities, and recording artists nationally and internationally.  He has been the personal photographer for Reverand Al Sharpton, and the official photographer for the United States Kickboxing Association and New York State American Legion Baseball.  Brother Umoja had the honor of capturing images of Betty Shabazz before her untimely death.


As a graphic artist, Brother Umoja has captured the images of "everyday people" to create a number of powerful posters including (but not limited to) The Gathering, Dancing in the Spirit, Survivors, and Harambee.


As an active member of society and the global community at large, Brother Umoja enjoys networking, sports, traveling, and connecting with people across the globe to make this world a better place.
